Objective Systems is pleased to announce the release of version 8.1 of our flagship product ASN1C.
ASN1C is a code generation tool targeted at developers who produce products based on Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1) and XML standards. It is capable of generating code in six different programming languages: C, C++, Java, C#, Python, and Go.
The following is a summary of some of the new features in this release:
- Generation of C Encode Functions for Avro and Protobuf
- The capability to generate C encode functions for encoding ASN.1 data in Google Protocol Buffers or Apache Avro binary formats was added. This includes the capability to generate schemas specific to these formats.
- Updated Encoding Rule Selection Checkboxes in ASN1C GUI
- New encoding rule checkboxes were added to the ASN1C GUI that provide a description of each of the supported encoding rules.
- Improved ASN.1 schema navigation in the ASN1C GUI
- Added improved ASN.1 schema navigation through referenced types in the schema. This includes back and forward controls for backtracking through the links.
- Improved Specification of PDU Types in the ASN1C GUI
- Added text completion to the PDU selection boxes in the project settings text boxes when specifying project properties.
- Added More Capabilities to Space-Optimized Encoding
- Support was added for table constraints and BIT STRING's with extensible constraints to space-optimized encoding.
- Improved Memory Management for Character Strings
- Added the -gen-own-memory command-line option to provide improved memory management for character strings in C/C++.
